What Would Make You Happy?
Most people grow old, having accepted a job for the rest of their life. Handing over 40-60+ hours per week from the rest of their life, for money.More than the time, is the life that is created for them once having accepted this job. When you take a step back from the situation, to say, annually… this person is now in effect trading 50 weeks per year, to have 2 weeks off (some jobs give you more like 3-4 weeks off in a year, once you’ve worked for 5-10 years with them). On the grand scheme of things, when most people were asked as kids, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” we are not only very far from what that original dream was, but probably didnt know we should assume 96% of every year, for the majority of the rest of our lives, would revolve around this decision.
Now sure… there are weekends off, the evenings during the week, and potentially, a great life in between… but are you free? Yes, we are free to do what we want for the most part. Make our own decisions, decide to turn left or right, and so on. But when that alarm goes off at 5 AM, we have no choice. If you step outside to go to work, and see that its the most beautiful day of the year…. you have no choice. And because you have no choice at this one time in the day, you also have no choice for the next 8-10 hours, including commute time, but you have no choice the next day. Only 2 weeks in the year, do you have 100% freedom. Thats 4% of the time…. Are you ok with these terms?
